Abortion International

Nowhere on earth is our reproduction ungoverned, but nowhere is it truly governable.

The abortion international isn’t a single operation — at least not yet. In every country on earth, people end pregnancies because they need to or want to. In every country, people figure out how. Nowhere on earth is our reproduction ungoverned, but nowhere is it truly governable.

We began thinking about this package because we have often argued that the abortion fight in the U.S. is too narrow, missing the movement building tools that first won abortion in the ’60s and ’70s. But we’re not the first people to face shrinking reproductive freedom in the face of a fascist future, so at Lux we’ve been talking with our counterparts internationally.

Here, we have brought together a handful of strategies from around the world. We hope to bring you more in coming issues (and we hope you, our readers, will send us projects of interest). We’re not in this fight alone. We have a lot to learn, and quickly.
