Decommodified Fetish: Documentary Heaven

Free stuff, free stuff, free stuff

The biggest online free library just lost access to 500,000 books. In 2022, the FBI forced Z-library to close its digital gates, letting millions of books, journals, and articles evaporate into thin air.  Every year, bad data and faulty servers let thousands of websites turn into meaningless web-junk. In what is becoming an unfathomable internet wasteland governed by private interests, I found Documentary Heaven, a relatively unknown, and so, unregulated, resource for free documentaries. While the interface looks a little wonky and the categories, confusing, rummaging around for the perfect watch feels nostalgic. And when that perfect watch ultimately falls short of its promise, as a David Lynch documentary did for me last week, it still feels refreshing to have my time wasted in true BlockbusterTM fashion.
